The Rights of Vulnerable Children are Questioned or Ignored in Canada!
Canada Declared November 20th., 2022: "National Child Day!"
About National Child Day
Direct quotation from the Government of Canada Public Health Agency Website: "Canada has declared November 20th as National Child Day to celebrate the rights of children. November 20th was chosen as the day to celebrate National Child Day because the United Nations adopted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) on November 20, 1989.
By signing onto the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991, Canada made a commitment to ensure that all children are treated with dignity and respect and have every opportunity to reach their full potential".
Today, November 3rd., 2022, The Honourable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, Canada, is forced to assert the Rights of the Child to Education. Our Premier, is utilizing the last available tool under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Section 33, the Notwithstanding Clause; thus passing legislation pertaining to Bill 28 in Parliament.
All efforts to reach an amicable, peaceful resolution with Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) representing: Early Childhood Educators, Educational Assistants and Custodians have failed. Bill 28, is crucial to keeping kids in the classroom, therefore avoiding faculty & staff walkout, further prevent school clossures in Ontario, Canada. Union representatives have completely ignored the "Rights of the Child". Social media, particularily members of Twitter have continued focusing on the Human Rights Code pertaining to Workers Right to bargaining powers... in retrospect one could also make a similar argument that inalienable Human Rights are also part and parcel of every individual rights... Thus including the Rights of the Child. Parental rights and responsibilities are also entwined, so which group takes priority....? When in doubt the Rights of the Child takes precedence!
